Director of Nursing for Perioperative Services

The Director of Nursing for Perioperative Service is an NJ Registered Nurse with experience in senior management in an acute-care setting. They will be experienced in performing leadership functions of governance and decision-making within organizations employing all areas of patient care services.
The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing for Perioperative Services position is to strategically develop and operate the Perioperative Services. The Director has the responsibility, authority and accountability for the 24-hour management and administration of Perioperative Services. The Director facilitates quality patient care and patient safety within the areas of Perioperative Services including the operating departments in University Hospital and in the Doctor's Office Center, Pre-Admissions Testing, Same Day Services, PACU, Central Sterile and Medical Special Procedures.
Minimum 3-5 years' Operating Room experience; 5-8 years supervisory/management experience required
Executive Nurse experience a must
Board Certified in Surgery, Surgical Subspecialty or Anesthesiology; OR, licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required (Master's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration, Healthcare administration or Business Administration preferred)
Seven (7) years of progressively more responsible experience preferably in a university affiliated tertiary care facility, including at least three (3) years in Perioperative management required or as Director of the Operating Room in a community medical center.
Must have the ability to work effectively with other healthcare professionals
Effective communication, organization and team building skills
Strong strategic and analytic ability
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirements
